About the Network Operations Role

The Network Operations Associate will support the NextView platform team in delivering engaging events and interactive programming to the various networks under the NextView umbrella. Your work in this role as an ecosystem architect, community nurturer, and network optimizer will play a critical part in the long-term success of the NextView portfolio. As an early-stage fund, our ideal candidate for this position is a community builder & operational powerhouse who cares deeply about their work and has a knack for making connections, optimizing operations, and streamlining systems across all aspects of what you do. THIS IS A NON-INVESTING ROLE. Here’s what you’ll be working on:

Event Operations: this role will support end-to-end event planning and execution for the various NextView networks across our three major ecosystems: New York, San Francisco, and Boston.

Network Management: this role will focus on the activation and optimization of our founder and non-founder networks, actively engaging with the community of NextView entrepreneurs and operators to drive conversations, foster connections, and surface collective knowledge.

Infrastructure & Support: this role will be responsible for building the necessary infrastructure to support the various network activations under the NextView umbrella.

About Our Ideal Candidate

When we think about the perfect person for this particular role, the top three adjectives that come to mind are conscientious, proactive, and personable.

Conscientious: You make lists and you check them twice. Whether it’s printing out name tags for a happy hour or drafting and scheduling the monthly founder newsletter, you take great pride in your work output and constantly strive to deliver excellence. You genuinely care about what you do and the thought of sending an email with a typo in the text keeps you up at night.

Proactive: You’re constantly thinking ten steps ahead. You’re never satisfied with how things are because you can’t help but see how much better, faster, and more efficient they could be. You’re the type to go above and beyond in all that you do. You may have been called an ‘overachiever’ once or twice (or maybe three times).

Personable: Being an extrovert isn’t a requirement, but it’s certainly a plus! You should be the kind of person who genuinely enjoys being around new people and feels comfortable making conversation at a dinner table. You understand the power of relationships and feel a deep passion for helping others succeed. You leave your ego at the door wherever you go and possess the ability to find common ground with anyone.

Where Should This Person Come From?

We’re looking for someone who is early in their career, wise beyond their years, and incredibly eager to learn. We don’t have a set formula as to where this person should come from or what type of resume they should have, but here are a few ideas of what their personal, professional, or academic experience may look like: network management, community management, project management, office management, event planning, operations, talent & recruiting, former startup founder, former startup operator, VC platform role, accelerator programming role, etc.

Platform Curious?

For anyone coming across this post who’s platform curious, platform adjacent, or even platform in the weeds, let me be the first to tell you how incredible this opportunity is – and I’m not just saying that because you’ll be reporting to me, I promise. Working within the platform world of venture is simply the best. It’s creative, it’s collaborative. It’s interesting, it’s inspiring. It’s crazy at times and calm at others (mostly crazy though, in a good way). I’m including a few resources that do a great job outlining what VC platform roles are all about below:

It’s truly the most rewarding job I’ve ever had, working with the best team in the industry, and supporting the most talented founders in the game. Looking forward to sharing in that professional fulfillment with the person who fills this role.
